--- G&S SING IN NANTUCKET THIS FALL

Everyone who loves to sing Gilbert and Sullivan is invited to the Nantucket G&S Sing-in, AKA QwertyWhales, on Saturday September 10, 2005. This is the Saturday after Labor Day, when the crowds have thinned and you can enjoy the island to its fullest. The cost of the event will be about $10 to defray the building rental cost.

Some luncheon refreshments will probably cost another $5, and T-shirts will probably be available.

We will sing (no dialog) through HMS PINAFORE, RUDDIGORE, YEOMEN OF THE GUARD, and THE SORCERER.

You should bring your own scores if you have them. We may have a few extra copies, but we intend those for any islanders that may want to join us. Likewise, if you have extra scores please feel free to bring them with you.

The sing-in is open to all.

Since Nantucket is a lovely vacation spot, we will keep the singing to 4 shows so we can go to dinner at a reasonable hour. Since we are singing in the Unitarian Church, we cannot sing on Sunday as well, but that means you have that day free to tour the island before returning to your usual drab existences. Nantucket is 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and is accessible by air and ferry. I have created a web page describing the island, our sing-out, recommended B&B's and how to get there, including a map.

See http://trouperslightopera.org/Troupers/Qwertywhales/for details. E-mail me with questions and your role requests: jim@labsoftware.com.

Since the church rental is significant we will only proceed if we have a suitable critical mass of singers planning to attend. Looking forward to seeing you all!

- JIM COOPER
